1. ✅ What Is the ICT MSS + FVG Strategy?

The ICT MSS + FVG Strategy combines a Market Structure Shift (MSS) with a return to Fair Value Gap (FVG) or Breaker Block. It’s designed to give a confirmed trend reversal entry after a liquidity sweep.

Instead of guessing direction, this model waits for proof that Smart Money is flipping bias.

This is the core entry shown in the second video of ICT’s Storyteller Series — June 3, 2025.

2. 💡 Why This Entry Model Is Powerful

Unlike simple displacement, the MSS confirms a directional flip:

  • Sweep happens first
  • Then strong move in the opposite direction
  • Then it breaks structure
  • And returns to FVG or breaker for entry

This makes it a high-confidence Smart Money setup — ideal when you’re unsure of bias.

3. 📌 4-Step ICT Entry Model Explained

Step 1: Sweep of Liquidity

  • Price takes out equal highs/lows (internal or external)

Step 2: Displacement in Opposite Direction

  • Strong candle shows Smart Money flipping bias
  • Leaves behind a Fair Value Gap

Step 3: Market Structure Shift (MSS)

  • Price breaks the last valid swing (not minor chop)
  • Confirms the reversal in structure

Step 4: Entry on Return

  • Entry options:
    • Return to the FVG (displacement leg)
    • Return to Breaker Block (candle before sweep)

4. 🔍 MSS vs. Displacement: What’s the Difference?

ConceptMSSDisplacement
🔁 DirectionOpposite after sweepCan be any direction
✅ Structure Break?YesNot required
📈 Trend ConfirmationStrongWeak/Neutral
🎯 Entry UseConfirmed reversal setupsEarly momentum setups

MSS = Confirmation
Displacement = Momentum spark

5. 🎯 Entry Trigger: FVG or Breaker Block

Once MSS is confirmed, ICT looks for:

  • Return to FVG (formed during displacement leg)
  • Breaker Block: Candle before the liquidity sweep

Both act as entry zones.
Entry at 50% of the zone or with 1m CHoCH is ideal.

6. 🛡️ Stop Loss & Targeting with MSS

  • Stop Loss: Beyond the sweep or the invalidation point of OB/FVG
  • TP1: Next liquidity (equal highs/lows)
  • TP2: Consequent Encroachment, Daily CE, or higher TF imbalance

MSS gives room for bigger targets, as it often starts new short-term trend legs.

7. 📉 Example Scenario (Sell Setup)

From ICT’s June 3 video:

  • Price raids previous high
  • Then forms displacement candle downward
  • Breaks a valid 1m swing low → MSS
  • Leaves a 1m FVG
  • Entry on return to FVG
  • TP = prior 15m low + imbalance
  • Clean, confirmed short using MSS logic

This was ICT’s main high-RR trade in the second episode.

8. 🕒 When MSS Entries Work Best

✅ After a failed rally or sell-off
✅ When price reverses off HTF OB or CE
✅ After large sessions (NY, London) create liquidity traps
✅ When you want more confirmation than simple FVG setups

9. 🧠 Summary: How to Apply MSS + FVG in Your Trading

If you want to avoid guessing market direction, this is the ICT model to focus on:

  • Wait for sweep
  • Watch for MSS
  • Trade the return into imbalance

It’s slower than a displacement-only entry — but much more reliable.
